Michigan Alpha On the Move!
Shortly after delivering remarks at Founder's Day that Michigan Alpha would be on State Street for the foreseeable future, we have had a sudden change with our lease agreement. Our landlord situation has changed: Theta Delta Chi has recolonized on campus and has a new alumni board, and they recently informed us that they are unwilling to renew our lease beyond June 2013. We will miss State Street, but with this change comes new opportunities for Michigan Alpha.
So what's the plan? The Michigan Alpha Housing Corporation (MAHC) has already taken proactive steps to ensure housing for our beloved chapter. The MAHC has enlisted a knowledgeable real estate agent who is particularly in tune with Greek housing in Ann Arbor. An alumni focus group consisting of Al Dickerson '57, Mick Lenzotti '59, Nick Kowalczyk '01, and myself have recently viewed a couple potential properties on campus. I am pleased to report that both properties are extremely promising.
How can I help? MAHC has a couple areas that need your urgent alumni assistance (and you need not live local):
1. The housing search committee needs help and assistance with choosing the best home for Michigan Alpha, and we need your input with making the best decisions.
2. MAHC must quickly mobilize a fund-raising campaign, and we need your alumni leadership to help Michigan Alpha purchase our first house in 40 years(!). I am truly confident that this is well within reach, especially given the depth of our network of 900+ living alumni.
Please contact me at
