| NewsPassing the Baton By Matt Wales, Corresponding Secretary The months of December and January have marked a very exciting time for the Phi Kappa Psi Michigan Alpha chapter. After initiating a pledge class of 23 promising young men, the final duty of the 2012 executive board has been to ensure a smooth transition for our fraternity’s newest leaders. Click on the headline to read more. Young Artist Takes Big Steps  Brother Jonathan Landre, a freshman, began taking his interest in art seriously at the start of his freshman year of high school. When he was not drawing, he was animating, conceptualizing, or dreaming of the things he might one day do as an artist. Since then, he has worked in a variety of media to enhance his ability as a viable and self-sufficient artist in the creative hemisphere. After he met his best-friend Mickey Blackwell in eighth grade– also a talented artist from Portland, Oregon – the two joined efforts in building the foundation of their clothing line, MYTHICAL Clothing Company. Winter Rush 2012 As this semester starts, the fraternity must once again look for men who might be worthy of joining the Brotherhood of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. Michigan’s Alpha chapter is just starting to see new faces around the house. Rush is possibly the most important part of any chapter, because without involved and loyal brothers the house would cease to be the Brotherhood it is today. Click on the headline to read more. Phi Psis Go the Extra Mile Phi Kappa Psi entails the credentials of “work hard, play hard” that represents the Brothers’ philosophy and speaks volumes of our fraternity’s character. A student can come to the university, enroll in the average amount of credit hours, and participate at the bare minimum of college life at the University of Michigan. But, a student can go above and beyond. More specifically, a student can take full advantage of their surrounding networks and take upon themselves extra responsibilities besides spending their time solely on their academic work. Students going the extra mile to do more with their lives and take on extra work are the ones who usually stand out in a pool of applicants. At Phi Kappa Psi Michigan Alpha, each and every Brother exemplifies actions representing this extra mile. We are a fraternity of over-achieving men who are goal orientated and driven to be successful. Click on the headline to read more.
